Elections typically follow a well-established pattern, with three distinct stages: a Pre-voting Period during which everything is planned, including the design and procurement of materials for voter registration and the election; the Voting Period when – provided the planning process has been executed efficiently – votes are cast, counted and verified and tabulated for public release; and a Post-voting Period during which voter lists are updated, results archived and all aspects of the election process reviewed.

These three phases are graphically illustrated in the diagram below:

As part of the Lithotech’s international network, Lithotech-Bording has the experience, resources and technical know-how to assist electoral commissions in the most critical phase of the election cycle: the Pre-Voting Period – success in this phase goes a long way towards ensuring success in the other two stages of the cycle.

Pre-voting Period

In accordance with each country’s requirements, Lithotech-Bording can add significant value during the planning phase of any intended registration programme or government election. While many issues – legal and otherwise – need to be taken into account, procuring cost-effective materials from a totally reliable partner remains the key element of success.

With years of experience in providing voter registration and election materials throughout Africa, Lithotech has a track record second to none. See Case Studies for a more detailed overview of those countries in which our expertise has helped the democratic process.

Voting Period

When voting commences, it is vital that ballot papers have been produced exactly to specification so that the election runs smoothly. With a thorough understanding of how ballot papers should be designed and produced so as to be as ‘user friendly’ as possible, cost-effectively and without sacrificing security, Lithotech has the production controls in place to guarantee ballot papers are produced correctly.

When time constraints require additional capacity to that normally available, Lithotech has the project management skills to successfully collaborate with other producers, without any compromise in quality and reliability.

Post-voting Period

When the counting and verification of votes cast is complete, Lithotech, through its integrated data storage and archiving system, is able to assist in the updating of voter lists, ready to assist countries with the implementation of the next round of democratic elections.
